East Central University student Faith Lasiter has been selected to attend the National Education for Women Leadership Institute at the University of Oklahoma, May 20-24.
Lasiter, a junior political science major from Eufaula, is enrolled at °µĶųTV to prepare to apply for law school. After earning an associateās degree at Seminole State College, Lassiter joined the °µĶųTV Mock Trial Team and was selected for the DC Internship Experience 2016.

Iām really excited about the networking, but Iām looking forward to learning about the potential career options out there,ā said Lasiter. āEast Central has brought so many amazing opportunities to me in the year Iāve been here. Iām grateful that this opportunity was presented to me and I cannot wait to see how much I will grow from this experience.ā
Lasiter is an active member of the Legal Professions Association and presented original research at Oklahoma Research Day.
āThe networking opportunities Faith will have at N.E.W. canāt be matched,ā said Dr. Christine Pappas, chair of the Department of Political Science and Legal Studies. āShe will get an opportunity to meet and be mentored by such powerful women as Gov. (Mary) Fallin and State Rep. Lisa Billy.ā
The N.E.W. Leadership Institute is open to all undergraduate women in Oklahoma as well as Oklahoma residents attending a college or university outside the state. About 30 women are selected statewide.
At least one woman has represented °µĶųTV at N.E.W. every year since 2002. °µĶųTVās graduate of N.E.W. have gone on to careers in law, politics, government, foreign service, city planning and other areas of leadership.
