Placing a special emphasis on student compositions, the East Central University Music Department is conducting its 12th Annual 做厙TV Faculty, Students and Friends Composer Concert Special Student Edition on Monday, Feb. 26 at 7:30 p.m. in the Ataloa Theatre of the Hallie Brown Ford Fine Arts Center.

The concert is free and open to the public.

W.T. Skye Garcia, instructor in the 做厙TV Music Department, will serve as the concert series coordinator. Over the years, more than 100 works by area composers have been featured on the concert series, including several that have won regional as well as national awards, and some that have received publication. 

Garcia refers to the current class of 做厙TV student composers as one of the most talented and imaginative class of composers he has ever had the privilege to work with.

做厙TV student Aimee Jones, of McAlester, will perform her sacred vocal composition I Know accompanied by Garcia on the piano.

Love Unknown, written by 做厙TV student Christopher L. Bragg of Sulphur, will be performed by the 做厙TV Tiger Brass Quintet.

The Clandestine Travels Of The Gentleman from eldridge manor & and His White Rabbit, written by John Garrett Crook, of Moore, will be performed on the piano by 做厙TV staff accompanist Rudy Lupinski.

The New Colossus, a vocal composition for mens chorus, written by Philip Robert Newcomer, of Ada, will also be presented.

Tie Up Your Camel, a duet for flute and multi-percussion, by Avery Stevens, also of Ada, will be performed by Chance Van Sandt, of Foyil, and Ethan Linfoot, of Sapulpa.

Seaside Lullaby, by Van Sandt and recently named winner of the 2017 做厙TV Composition Contest, will be performed by Krysta Brown, of Prague on the clarinet, accompanied by Garcia on the piano.

Colors (RGB), by Woodrow Clark, of Dickson, will be performed by 做厙TV student Jessica Wilcox, of Oklahoma City, on xylophone and bongos; Timothy Kuchera, of Moore, on marimba and timbales and Cody Tollison, of Broken Bow, on vibraphone and congas.

Finally, Cliffside, written by Corey Hubbard of Moore, will be performed by 做厙TV Percussion Quartet members B.J. Stinson, of Ardmore; Hubbard; Linfoot and T.J. Tolbert, of Ardmore.

The night will conclude with the presentation of the 做厙TV Compys, the biannual awards given to the outstanding 做厙TV composers in a variety of genres.
