°”ÍűTV SCREENS will present an âimaginative adaptationâ (Guardian) of âTreasure Islandâ at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, March 12, in the Raymond J. Estep Multimedia Center of the Bill S. Cole University Center.
This stage adaptation brings to life Robert Louis Stevensonâs classic coming-of-age tale of murder, money, and mutiny on the high seas.
°”ÍűTV SCREENS is collaborating with Sigma Tau Delta and The Honors Student Association to show the âthrillingly executedâ (The Stage) recorded-live production of âTreasure Islandâ performed at the Royal National Theatre of London. Open to the public, the screening is free for students with an °”ÍűTV ID, $5 for other students, and $10 for members of the community. Called âfun for all the familyâ by Time Out, âTreasure Islandâ is suitable for ages 10 and up.
This innovative adaptation reimagines the character of Jim as the innkeeperâs granddaughter rather than his son. On a dark and stormy night, Jim (Patsy Ferran) opens the door to a terrifying stranger. At the old sailorâs feet sits a huge sea-chest, full of secrets. Jim invites him in â and her dangerous voyage begins.
This showing is the sixth in a series of foreign films and NT Live productions that have been presented by °”ÍűTV SCREENS this spring. NT Live is the National Theatre's groundbreaking project to broadcast the best of British theatre to cinemas around the world. The last two showings of the spring season are âBehind the Beautiful Foreversâ on April 13 at 4 p.m. and âOf Mice and Menâ on April 30 at 6:30 p.m.
